Liz Mangione, PT/L CNDT Physical Therapy Clinical Manager
Liz Mangione is a registered physical therapist with over 20 years of pediatric experience. She received her Bachelor’s of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Scranton in 1991. Upon graduation, she began working in pediatrics at the Children’s Rehabilitation Center in White Plains. Her treatment experience includes children with developmental delays, CP, spina bifida, Downs syndrome, and autism spectrum disorders. While at the CRC, she was the student program coordinator, became trained in the fabrication of orthotics, and was the physical therapist representative on the BOTOX clinic. She worked closely with parents, OT’s, Speech therapists, and classroom teachers to formulate treatment plans for the whole child, and was the staff representative to the parent’s association. In 1994, she became NDT certified, under the supervision of Joan Mohr, PT. She spent her final two years at CRC as the Chief of Physical Therapy, supervising a staff of 14 PT and PTA’s while maintaining a full treatment caseload. After the birth of her children, Liz began delivering home-based EI services and worked part time in the Valhalla school district, where she developed and implemented a gross motor group for the self-contained classroom.
Liz joined the KidAbilites staff in September of 2008 and is looking forward to continuing her professional development in this rewarding field.
Connie Derbabian, MA, PT/L, CNDT
Connie Derbabian is a Registered Physical Therapist who has experience treating the pediatric population in Westchester County, New York since 1991. Connie has provided therapy services to children diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Pervasive Developmental Disorders (PDD), Torticollis, Asperger’s Syndrome, Downs Syndrome, developmental neurological disorders, Sensory Integration Disorders, and Developmental Delays. Connie has a vast amount of experience working with parents, teachers, and other therapists to determine how best to serve her patients.
Connie holds an M.A. in Physical Therapy and B.S. in Allied Science from Touro College and earned her undergraduate degree in biology from Manhattan College in New York. Connie also holds a certificate from the Neuro Developmental Therapy Association in Pediatric NDT. She resides in Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y. with her husband and three children.
Jim Harrison, PT/L, CNDT
Jim is a New York State licensed physical therapist with 30 years of experience working in pediatrics. He received a BA degree in Psychology form Queens College and went on to earn a physical therapy degree from Hunter College. In addition, Jim has a certificate degree in orthotics from Northwestern University. He began his career with the New York City Board of Education and then moved to Saint Mary’s Hospital for children, where he worked as both a physical therapist and an orthotist. During that time, Jim also became NDT certified in Pediatrics. Jim is currently working part-time at KidAbilities, while he continues fabricating orthotics and braces for children throughout Westchester, NYC, and Long Island. He enjoys the challenges and rewards of working with children and looks forward to expanding his professional skills at KidAbilities.
Laura Adler, MA, PT/L
Laura studied biology at Syracuse University and in 1992 graduated with a Bachelor of Science. Laura continued her education in graduate school and in 1996 received a Masters of Physical Therapy as well as a Bachelor of Health Science from Touro College, NY. Laura has been a licensed physical therapist for over 16 years. During the last 12 years she has worked primarily with the pediatric population both in a therapeutic pre-school setting and currently at KidAbilities.
Deirdre Nebel, MS, PT/L
Deirdre is a New York State licensed physical therapist who has worked predominately in pediatrics. Deirdre graduated from the University of Scranton with a BA in Communications in 1996. After a few years in the work force, Deirdre attended New York Medical College where she received a Masters of Science degree in Physical Therapy with a concentration in early intervention in 2002. Deirdre has worked in pediatric facilities including Children's Evaluation and Rehabilitation Center in Bronx, N.Y., Easter Seals in Valhalla, N.Y., and United Cerebral Palsy in Purchase, N.Y. Deirdre has been a member of the Kidabilities staff since September 2013.
After receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Binghamton University with a minor in Spanish, Danielle pursued her career in physical therapy where she received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at Stony Brook University. While attending Stony Brook, Danielle worked at Helen Hayes Hospital in the therapy department and volunteered with their Adaptive Sports program, providing assistance to participants with spinal cord injuries. She has completed fieldwork affiliations in the acute care, orthopedic and pediatric settings. Danielle has experience working with children with a variety of diagnoses, including but not limited to Developmental Delay, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, and ADD/ADHD. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association. Danielle enjoys an active lifestyle focusing on fitness and nutrition. Her favorite pastime is hiking with her rescue dog Ace. She is active with rescue organizations and animal shelters helping to rehabilitate and find forever homes for dogs.
